TESTIMONIALS

It is hard to convey through words how great of a tutor and teacher Nick is. He has real passion for what he teaches, which was evident to me from the first day. He consistently made the often very difficult concepts I had to learn for A-Level biology understandable. Additionally, he would always make sure that I had understood what I was taught. Nick is also extremely empathetic and compassionate, making every lesson I had with him enjoyable and fun. Lessons that once felt like a chore at school were something that I deeply looked forward too. Nick never hesitated to help kindle and support my passion for biology, answering all random questions I could ask with his deep knowledge of biology.
Nick’s ability to make biology entertaining, and the difficult concepts approachable, I know is the reason I was able to end up achieving an A* in Biology. He was always prepared with a thorough and diverse range of resources for every lesson, which really accelerated my learning. I unreservedly recommend his tuition, and I cannot thank him enough for his incredible help.

After a rather disastrous 7+ for my son we understood: “these kind of exams can’t be achieved with purely school work” a private teacher was strongly needed to close the gap between pre-prep school and expectation of the Senior School.
A private school recommended Nick to us as a very strong tutor and that is when things started to make sense and academics shaped up in the direction which was needed.
Nick took everything in hand, he knew after the first two lessons where Maxime was and Nick put together an entire road map how to raise the bar in Math and English to the needed level.

Nick is very organised and wonderfully reliable. Latest the day before lesson, you can be sure he will send you very strong and relevant resources he will cover with your child.
Nick takes notes during his lessons to ensure everything the child needs will be covered during the next lesson.
Further to Nick’s academic excellence I would like to highlight one very important and rare characteristic: his empathy for his pupil (and their parents).
Nick truly puts his heart into every pupil he teaches.
Soon after Nick took over, we saw Max’s academics accelerating incredibly and he enjoyed every single lesson with Nick.

Max just received his 8 + offers and I am glad to report he got a place offered in all three schools he tried out for (Westminster Under, Sussex House and Westminster Cathedral Choir)

Now that the 8+ is successfully conquered, we won’t say buy to Nick but asked him to stay and take on our older daughter for Math who she struggles a little bit.
We wish to thank Nick, it has been such a successful year and it is thanks to your encouraging and engaging teaching that the outcome is fantastic.

I am delighted to write a testimonial for Nick C. Brown. Nick has helped my daughter, who is home tutored for medical reasons, since Autumn 2018 (all sciences and math). He is an outstanding tutor++: dedicated, reliable, resourceful, highly personable and above all a person of great integrity and sincerity. Both my children have been schooled through so called elite schools and I have never come across a tutor of such calibre. Incidentally Nick also helped my son with the UCAS system and most recently his CV for work experience.

My daughter has written her own testimonial below:

Nick has helped my family a great deal. He tutors me in all GCSE sciences and math. Nick’s warm heart always shines through during lessons as he is always checking in to make sure I am feeling okay and that the lesson pace is appropriate. He adapts lessons accordingly day to day and provides support consistently. His intelligence and bright mind are very apparent and I believe he can help a lot of people when given the chance. Nick is much better than any mainstream teacher I have personally encountered and he does a good job at making maths slightly entertaining

I am delighted to recommend Nick Brown as a highly qualified and extremely professional tutor with whom it is my great pleasure to work with here at Lionheart School, a one to one interim education environment for students encountering educational difficulty or who are in some form of educational transition. Most of our students have SENs or social, emotional or behavioural issues. He is a gifted, natural communicator in the tutorial room with a real skill for developing knowledge and identifying gaps in the learning of his students and has a creative, original approach to encouraging and supporting them through the various difficulties they encounter.

He is extremely organised, exceptionally thorough, and always ahead of the game in terms of the production of written reports, which I think are the best I have seen – sensitive, nuanced, detailed, but always getting unerringly to the key points.

Nick is a fantastic tutor and I highly recommend his services. I have had experience of several tutors over the years who have supported both my daughters from time to time. Nick tutored my daughter last year helping her with her A level Biology as well as helping her to prepare for medical school and her BMAT. Due to his support and hard work she achieved the A grade she needed to get into med school, as well as helping her to get 4 med school interviews, as well as an offer from her chosen university. Nick has great tutor skills - he is kind and empathetic with his tutees, he teaches them to think independently so that they can approach questions with both learnt knowledge and applied learning. In particular, he is good at going over topic areas and questions which students find difficult. He always comes prepared for sessions which I think is an important quality in a tutor. All in all we had a very good experience and have no hesitation in recommending him.

As a mum of three in London, we have used our fair share of tutors. Nick is our absolute
favourite! We first met Nick in an 8+ prep course and have stayed on with him. He is great at
helping my son understand complicated subjects and really breaks down the subject matter
so that he can easily understand. Nick can quickly identify areas of weakness and
thoughtfully prepares bonus material to work on before the next lesson and curates
subsequent lessons accordingly. Nick has a no-nonsense approach, but also manages to be
patient and encouraging. He gives great feedback to parents, so I am aware of what needs
to be worked on or any issues that should be addressed. I could not recommend Nick
enough and feel very fortunate for my kids to have access to such a wonderful teacher.

Nick first worked with my son, W, in the run up to common entrance. I can honestly say he is the best tutor we have ever had.
He is kind and thoughtful, always well prepared and W is always pleased to see him.
The notes he and W made during their sessions became W’s ‘bible’, the most important thing to look at ahead of the exams.
Nick is now helping W through his GCSEs and with younger children coming into the exam phase I hope that we will have a relationship with Nick for many years to come!

Nick is an outstanding Maths, Biology and Chemistry tutor, working with children from Year 1 to A-level.
He is thorough, dedicated, patient and punctual. Nick brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to lessons. My 3 children enjoy working with him and have made a lot of progress in a short amount of time.
He is also available for detailed feedback with parents/carers at the end of the lesson.

Thanks very much for your time and fantastic materials this term. It was a tough ask to keep them focussed remotely for such a long time each Sunday and you were fantastic. The standard has been challenging (in a good way) and has given R a lot to work on through the summer.

Nick is brilliant. He helped our son during his 7+ entrance exams. Nick has a talent for motivating students and bringing subjects to life in a very unique, creative and enthusiastic manner. Nick is incredibly professional, thinking through lesson plans ahead of time and spending time in areas where it is needed in a diligent and patient manner. Our son would look forward to sessions with Nick. We have taken pleasure in recommending Nick to many of our friends who have all felt the same as we do about him.

Nick started teaching my 7 year old in June 2020 in preparation of his 8+ at some of the best independent schools in London. He prepared personalised lessons and was very focussed on his areas of need. He is very flexible and conscientious and concentrates on correcting weaknesses and makes working on them really dynamic with interesting exercises.

He is constantly providing something fun or challenging. The dynamic of one to one is really excellent, this interaction has helped my son strengthen his learning greatly. He has admirable patience, competence and enthusiasm, definitely highly recommended!
— Mrs. D, Hampstead
I feel hugely privileged and lucky to have had Nick as my tutor. I felt fully supported by Nick who went above and beyond to help. Nick was able to identify my own strengths and help me develop them. Not only do I feel like my writing skills have improved as a result of Nick’s constructive criticism but my self-confidence too. I left each session feeling positive, motivated and closer to my academic goal and that is all down to Nick’s excellent writing abilities and happy disposition. I would recommend Nick for any essay-based subject, in particular biology which he has a familiarity with due to his previous degree. It’s been a pleasure getting to know him and I wish him all the best with his career. Thank you very much, Nick!
